'Tis the season! in the Delaware Valley when the winter really begins to move in. Our weather has been mild and then cold and then warm and then freezing. What does this all mean for our precious pianos?
When the weather gets cold in our area it usually brings a dryness to the general humidity. This affects the wood in our pianos by causing the wood to 'shrink'. The tuning pins may become loose and the soundboard adjusts. The tuning of the piano becomes flat.
With the changing of the season it's a good time to schedule a tuning! Plus, I can measure the general humidity around the piano and offer suggestions on how to protect one of your prized possessions.
